Choosing the right resolution
A PDF page is vector – it has no pixels until it is rendered. 72 dpi (about 600 px wide for an A4 page) is fine for a quick preview. 144 dpi, our default, is sharp on phones and laptops and keeps file size sensible. 216 dpi suits presentations on large screens. 300 dpi (about 2480 px wide) is print quality and is what you want for archiving or printing a page as a photo.
JPG vs PNG for PDF pages
Scanned documents and pages with photos compress best as JPG. Pages made mostly of text, tables, charts or line art look cleaner as PNG, which keeps edges crisp and has no compression artefacts around letters. If you are not sure, JPG at quality 90 is a safe default that looks good and stays small.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to JPG for free?
Add your PDF above, choose a resolution and click Convert. Each page becomes a JPG you can download – no account, no watermark.
Can I convert just one page of a PDF?
Yes. Enter the page number (for example 2) in the Pages box before converting.
Is the quality good enough for printing?
Choose 300 dpi for print-quality output.
Does it work with scanned or password-protected PDFs?
Scanned PDFs work perfectly. Password-protected files must be unlocked in a PDF reader first.
Where do the JPG files go?
They download to your device – one file per page, or a single ZIP with Download all.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. Rendering happens in your browser with pdf.js, the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs.
