Resize or compress – which one do you need?
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of an image, so a 4000×3000 photo becomes, say, 1200×900. Compression keeps the dimensions but re-encodes the pixels more efficiently, trading a little invisible detail for a much smaller file. If a form says “maximum 1000 pixels wide”, resize. If it says “maximum 200 KB”, compress – or use our target-size option, which does both automatically.
Built for real-world upload limits
Government portals, job boards, university applications and marketplaces all impose their own limits: 50 KB passport photos, 100 KB signatures, 2 MB product pictures, 1080-pixel social posts. The tools in this section are designed around those limits, with presets for the most common sizes and an option to type the exact number of kilobytes you need.
Frequently asked questions
Will resizing make my image blurry?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than the original cannot add detail, so we recommend resizing down only, or keeping enlargements under about 150%.
Can I process many images at once?
Yes. Compress, resize and rotate all accept batches of up to 100 files and give you a single ZIP download.
Do these tools keep EXIF data?
No. Re-encoding through the browser canvas strips camera metadata (including GPS location), which is usually what you want before sharing a photo publicly.
What is the maximum file size?
There is no hard limit because nothing is uploaded, but very large images (over about 50 megapixels) can be slow on phones.
Is there a watermark?
Never. Your output is clean and belongs to you.
